Hi Doreen. If you are not seeing any rise after shaping the braid, you may want to check in on the temperature of the dough OR the temperature of where you are letting the dough rise. If things are a bit cool, that rate of rising may be slower than what's listed in a recipe. How long are you letting that first rise go for? It could also be that the energy from the yeast is weakened because the initial rise went too long.
