Norwich, VT, February 14 — Discover the passion and resilience of Vermont farmers in a special exhibit by photographer JuanCarlos González. This limited time exhibit will feature 17 remarkable women selected from a collection commemorating the strong connection Vermont farmers have with their land and communities. The exhibit will be on display at the King Arthur Baking Café from February 12 to March 31.
"We are thrilled to display 'Vermont Female Farmers' at King Arthur," says Suzanne McDowell, Vice President of CSR and Sustainability. "As an organization deeply rooted in our love for the land and the connection to baking, we recognize and celebrate the vital role that female farmers play in shaping Vermont's agricultural landscape."
JuanCarlos González, originally from Maunabo, Puerto Rico, relocated to Plymouth, Vermont, with his husband in 2019, where he immersed himself in the local community. Inspired by the remarkable women in his life, González embarked on an extraordinary journey capturing the essence of female farmers across Vermont over several years. Through his lens, visitors gain insight into the lives of these hardworking women, contributing significantly to the state's culture, identity, and economy. JuanCarlos also published a book to accompany the exhibit offering readers an in-depth understanding of each farmer’s story and the “why” behind their commitment to farming.
“It was truly an honor capturing the essence of these remarkable women, showcasing their daily life on the farm – where livelihood, labor and passion converge into a powerful narrative,” says JuanCarlos González. “I am thrilled to share these vibrant photos at King Arthur Baking.”
