I would add that it is important to have facilities to rinse off any of the solution that spills on the skin (and to take action immediately). Safety goggles are equally important to avoid contact with the eyes.

Lye can quickly cause full thickness skin burns and damage to the eyes if there is a spill.

This warning is not to discourage use but to stress the importance of using the product safely.
