Hi Heleen, a slight alcohol smell is somewhat normal. It might just be that your sourdough starter is fermenting quite quickly in the warm weather. If you can find time to feed your starter more frequently, that may benefit the overall starter health. Another approach you might want to consider is using water that's slightly cool. This might help regular the rate of fermentation so that things don't get too far away from you too quickly. Just keep feeding your starter, and it will be happy! Kye@KAF
