I use Butter-Flavored Crisco Sticks for most of my cookie baking. The package directions say to add 6 teaspoons (2 Tb) water for each 1 cup stick. Forgetting to add the water results in cookies that won't stay together and are rather dry and crumbly. My tasters haven't noticed any difference in taste between butter and Crisco. I have noticed that cookies using butter tend to spread more than cookies made with Crisco.
