I have to disagree with using the dough hook for making pasta dough. I have three attachments. None called a beater. The dough hook, the whisk and the paddle. The paddle works the best for making pasta dough hands down. This is coming from someone that doesn't make pasta just because it's a "Fad" on the cooking networks.
It really incorporates the eggs into the flour making the cornmeal type consistency before incorporating any water. The dough hook is great for kneading a bread dough but not for making a pasta dough. Once the right moisture is reached the mixture can then be very easily brought together into a ball using the old fashion method called using ones hands. If the pasta is not to be rolled through a machine, I would knead it by hand but a dough hook could be used after the dough has been brought together.
