Hi Dina! It depends on what the recipe you're making is calling for. A lot of our recipes call for mixing the sugar and eggs together but we can't think of any that call for mixing the eggs alone before adding the sugar. Oil-based cakes are usually dense but they're dense on purpose, like certain pound cakes, carrot cakes, or red velvet cakes usually use oil whereas something like sponge cake would not.
