I tried this method, but the starter smelled really, really bad after following the recipe. I have no idea what went wrong, or if it is supposed to smell like that but I didn't use it.
My house temperature is in the low 70's. I used bottled water and clean equipment. I got the bubbles, fed it as directed. It didn't smell 'tangy'; it actually smelled like vomit or worse.
I don't know if living in southeastern Louisiana is conducive to making sourdough starters...
Any help is appreciated!
