Just found your great blog because I was looking to see if there was something I could do about my mistake. My mistake: I had just made a yogurt berry cake recipe because I had 2 berry yogurts pass the best-by date and wanted to use them. I have always premeasured my ingredients and do "mise en place" and put everything away after. But this time I saw I had about 1 1/4 cups of yogurt when the recipe called for 1 cup so I added 1/4 more of each ingredient. (I had to do a lot of math since the ingredient measurements were very varied.) I baked the cake and it had too much salt. It wasn't terrible, just too salty and I wondered if I could add something as a topping to counteract the saltiness. Anyway, I really enjoyed reading about your and others mistakes. I am writing this over 7 years later, but am glad I found the King Arthur blog and intend to revisit again. Thank you even if I did not find an answer on how to save my cake.
