Could I do this with that fake vegetarian bacon, do you think? I would so love to try this recipe... Hi, Allie. Yes, I think you could, with the toothpick method. You might want to butter or oil the bottom of the bread slices before you spread with cream cheese; it will help keep the bread from getting too dry and give it a little crispy boost. Susan
