On Baking & Being Black - Toni Tipton-Martin and Adrian Lipscombe
In celebration of Black History Month, renowned culinary historian Toni Tipton-Martin is joined by bakery owner and founder of the 40 Acres & a Mule Project, Adrian Lipscombe. Together, they discuss traditions in Black baking and the future of the industry. They’ll touch on the legacy of female Black bakers, respectful ways to adapt recipes, their shared goal to honor the past while looking toward the future, and even some of their own recipes and baking adventures.
King Arthur Baking has made a donation to the organization of Toni's choice, Lucille's 1913 Project, which combats food insecurity and creates employment opportunities in under-resourced neighborhoods, and Adrian's own organization, 40 Acres Project, which purchases agricultural land to establish a farm to table outlet for Black foodways. We encourage you to learn more and donate at lucilles1913.org and gofundme.com/f/forty-acres-project.
