Cider-Cinnamon Spritz Cookies

A traditional tender melt-in-your-mouth spritz cookie flavored with cider and scented with cinnamon, these little morsels will be a hit on your holiday cookie tray.

Instructions

Prevent your screen from going dark as you follow along.
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Chill two ungreased baking sheets while you make the dough. 

  2. To make the dough: Beat together the butter, sugar, cream cheese, salt, vanilla, cinnamon, and cider. Mix in the flour. If the dough is very soft, chill it for 20 minutes before using.

  3. Fill a cookie press two-thirds full and pipe cookies onto the baking sheets according to the press directions. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.

  4. Bake the cookies for 9 to 11 minutes, until they're lightly browned around the edges. Remove them from the oven and cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack to finish cooling completely. 

  5. To glaze the cookies: Mix together all of the glaze ingredients, stirring until smooth, and brush over the cookies.

  6. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 10 days; freeze for longer storage.
