Hi Samantha, while this method can work well in certain applications, we aren't recommending abandoning preheating in all circumstances. Every recipe will respond a little differently, and for reliable results it's never a bad idea to stick to the recipe. However, if you're in the mood for experimenting, this might be something fun to try, especially with a pound cake recipe.
