What is your opinion of cast iron loaf pans? I've read that they give bread loaves a really nice crust. I'm considering purchasing a couple of these from Lodge, but I don't know how versatile they'll be. Since cast iron takes a while to heat, would it be okay to put dough or batter in a cold oven so the temperature of the cast iron increases gradually?
