I just threw out my first sourdough starter and the recipe I was following had me adding 1/2 c flour and 1/2 water every day. By day 3 it starting smelling like rotten cheese and vomit and had a layer of hooch on top. I continued for 3 more days feeding it and nothing changed it smelled the same (maybe even worse) and continued to collect the liquid on top. I just stared over yesterday and it’s already collecting liquid on top...hasn’t started to smell yet but what am I do wrong?! Someone help me I really want to learn to do this so I can make some good sourdough!
