My first real home bread baking recipe was for baguettes. It was from another website and I miscalculated the amount of flour to use. My dough was so wet it clung to every finger but I doggedly continued and ended up with a surprisingly ok result. It also called for slap and fold kneading and additional folding later so there's a lot of parallels to this example.
I've since refined my baguettes by using the King Arthur website recipe and tips but after that first go with my own "defiant puddle" I'm not afraid of wet dough. I'm glad to see that I can attempt ciabatta bread without additional equipment.
