I've wanted to try this since I first saw in May and made it to celebrate my sister's birthday yesterday. It did not disappoint from the feedback amidst oohs and aahs. I couldn't have said it better than this compliment from one of my other sisters and fabulous baker in her own right: "What a stunning showpiece of a cake. Delicious and one to add to the list, if there was one, of most requested birthday cakes. I want one! You knocked it out of the ballpark." I took the shortcut filling pastry cream approach and topped with blueberries, blackberries and strawberries. Can't wait to make again for my boyfriend's family and see their delight.
