I find most recipes to be grossly overly sweet. I just made Ina Garten’s famous Beatty’s Chocolate Cake. I reduced the two cups of sugar to one and added a scant extra 1/8 c of flour. While the texture turned out perfect the cake was horribly salty. Next time I will be more aware that by reducing sugar, other flavors, including salt become more prominent. This cake calls for 1 t kosher salt, 2 t baking soda and 1 t baking powder. Next time I will not add any kosher salt.
