We love baking round and oval-shaped boules with classic Dutch ovens, Ed. They sure do look like beautiful artisan loaves when they come out of the oven. If you'd like to get these same crusty/cripsy results in a sandwich loaf shape, consider using something like this Covered Bread Loaf Baker. You can use it the same way you'd use a Dutch oven to bake bread: either preheat it empty to use the cold start method. The final results are impressive (and perfect for sandwiches). Happy baking!
