Born and bred in NY with a farm in the Finger Lakes. I never cared for Macintosh or Cortland apples, and do not like mushy apples in anything, especially pie. My all time favorite pie (and apple sauce, spiced sliced apples etc) apple is Mutsu (I grow my own). I had a friend who grew Baldwins, and they were pretty good too.
