Hi Patrick! There are two possibilities here. Since the yeast never bubbled, either it's simply past its prime or the water was too hot and it killed it immediately. Yeast dies at 140°F and begins to be damaged around 130°F so it's a good idea to keep the water temperature close to your body temperature to 105°F.
