Frances, feel free to use a bit more milk for a softer dough! We've also had amazing luck making soft hot cross buns using the tangzhong method, as outlined in this blog post: Introduction to tangzhong. They turn out squishy and beautiful, and last longer as well. Happy baking! Kat@KAF
