I have several pkg of yeast in my frig, now past date. I'd like to proof before adding to bread machine but from what I have read, this throws off the cycle. Do I add proofed yeast after the ingredients have mixed? A few minutes into the cycle?
I received a lot of free caraway and like to make my own rye bread, which is trickier than plain white.
Proofing first seems less tricky if I didn't use my breadmaker but I have to admit I'm yeast impaired which is why I have a machine. Trying to do it on my own resulted in some flour-based bricks.
