For biscuits, pie crusts, and other flaky recipes, I use my food processor with the shredding disk to shred frozen butter into chilled flour (stored in the freezer). Then I switch to the chopping blade and give it a few pulses to mix in the butter. I dump that into a regular mixing bowl to add additional ingredients so that the dough isn't overworked.
