Good question, Linda. The answer depends on a number of factors, including the brand of cocoa, how often you use it (open the container), and the temperature and humidity of the storage space. We recommend using King Arthur Flour brand cocoas within about one year of purchase for best results; there will be a best by date printed on the package. Some store brands (like Hershey's) have longer shelf lives of about two years. Be sure to check the date on your package and keep it in a cool, dry place to help keep it fresh. Happy baking! Kye@KAK
