Good question, Alice. We're no fans of excess cleaning either. Surprisingly, we've found the grease splattering is quite minimal if you use the temperatures and times given here. However, if you'd like to be extra cautious and prevent any mess, you might want to try putting a piece of foil over the bacon very loosely about halfway through baking. This will prevent the bacon from steaming (if it steams, you won't get that delightfully crisp texture) and should also help limit the mess. The grease won't start to splatter until the end of baking so you can leave it uncovered for the first 10-15 minutes or so, which will help the bacon start to crisp up.
