We're glad to hear that you've started your own sourdough journey, Carole! The Classic Sourdough Crock has a 1-quart usable capacity but it's actually 1 1/4-quarts, so it's slightly larger than the jar shown here. You're starter is probably ready to go, you want to see that it becomes bubby throughout and just about doubles in volume within 6 to 8 hours of feeding. We hope this helps and happy baking!
