Unable to find whole wheat flour at the store I purchased a dried starter base and have been carefully feeding it twice a day based on the KA sourdough starter maintenance schedule and carefully weighing all ingredients. It's been 8 days and the starter just will not rise despite keeping it in the oven with the light on or next to a baseboard heater. It smells tangy and sour and gets tiny bubbles on the top after feeding. But it remains also incredibly soupy - like pancake batter. Should I change up my ratio? Throw it out and start over?
