I am on day 7 of my starter and there has been little to no activity aside from a very, very pungent smell. My starter has finally begun to bubble, but it has shown no growth. I left it above the stove last night to try and put it in a warmer place without realizing the stove was going to be used. When I checked in to feed my starter for the second time that day I found that my starter was extremely warm and very loose. I realized that when the stove was used the starter got very heated up. Is it possible that too much heat can kill the starter?
