Some bakers have strong feelings about preferring the flavor of rye vs. whole wheat starters, but both are delicious, and most of the flavor in your bread is going to come from the ingredients making up the dough as a whole and the methods used, rather than from the nature of the starter itself. While each region's own mix of yeast and bacteria will be unique, we've had delightful sourdough bread made all over the world! Florida is no different. Your bread will be both tasty and unique.
