I'm sure that you have had every question imaginable but, I can't find the answer. I had a brain freeze this morning when I decided to bake bread. Up until now, I have weighed everything. I have a bread machine recipe that calls for a cup of starter. So, I weighed 4 oz. to save for my starter and poured the remainder in a measuring cup. There was 6 oz./3/4 cup, a total of 10 oz. rather than 12 oz. So, I didn't discard anything. I poured it all back together and fed with 4 oz. each of water and flour. Is 4 oz. each enough to feed 10 oz. starter or do I need to add more? I'm not sure how much to reserve, discard and feed in order to have at least a cup of starter for baking. Thanks for your help.
