Fruitcake, like a lot of things, has changed over the last 30 years! I really enjoy making my fruitcake and giving it as a gift to my mom and sister and they REALLY enjoy getting it every year...maybe it has something to do with the rum soaked fruit! I still don't care for the version my mom makes - candied fruit and no rum. I used dried fruit - pretty much anything I can find at our local food co-op. I LOVE fruitcake - and I'm not ashamed to say so! You can join me on the fruitcake lovers bench anytime Andipete! ~ MaryJane
