I mixed up enough apple mixture for 2 pies. One of the pies went into the paper bag and one was bagless. I baked them exactly the same. Three people tested the pies and could tell no difference between the two as far as taste goes. They looked the same as well. The only difference I found was that any spill overs stayed in the bag, but I bake pies on a pan to hold spill overs... It is an extra step to find the paper bags to bake the pies in and one step I do not feel is necessary to bake a good apple pie.
