Wow, I'm in heaven - two of my most favorite foods, potatoes and apples, starring in the last 2 blogs. Jonagold, Honeycrisp, and Gala are available here in central VA, and I just heard of a new variety, Piney River Gold, which should be available later this month. Don't know whether it's related to the Ginger Gold apple - I imagine it is. And I was rereading John Thorne's essay on Maine potatoes in "Serious Pig." I'm going to try your newest version of Latkes with Yukon Golds if I can get them. It's a golden season, isn't it?! Thanks for the great recipes, PJ. Beth - You're golden! (Sorry, couldn't resist...)
