Thanks for this! I know it's an OLD post but I just now found it so it's new to me! I stayed up in WI with my younger son and his little family and the apples were the freshest and crispest and sweetest I'd EVER tasted!! I, by myself, ate half a bushel! And didn't even get a stomachache. Those were Macintosh and I've not found any as fresh and sweet since. Now I have to figure out WHERE in San Antonio, TX or its environs I can find the right apple farms to get the BEST cider to boil down. Thanks again, ever SO much, for posting this way of doing it without waste.
