Two years ago, we had a bumper crop of strawberries (I grow them in the backyard), so I cut them up, froze them, then just dumped a good handful into the blender with a spoonful of simple syrup and a splash of lime juice. When processed, it was like a fresh sorbet, and I didn't have to use the ice cream maker at all. I've done the same thing with other frozen fruit like blueberries, peaches, blackberries, and mixed fruits. Excellent idea - bet you could freeze seedless orange sections and do the same thing. YUM.
