You're welcome to use a whole egg for the topping, Tanya. The sesame seeds may not stick on quite as well, the finished loaf will likely brown faster in the oven. If you find it's browning too quickly, tenting the loaf with foil will keep it from getting too dark. Happy baking! Annabelle@KAF
